Extraordianry You - Differences between Webtoon and Drama

'Extraordinary you' is a romantic fantasy drama based on a comic, titled 'July Found By Chance' written by  Moo Ryu, and because of the impressive storyline several young people read it.

The drama tells the story of Eun Dan Oh (Kim Hye Yoon), a high school student who realizes that she is a side character in the webtoon titled 'Secret' and Haru (Rowoon), an Unnamed character who likes Eun Dan Oh and wants to change his destiny.


Let's talk about the differences between webtoon and live action drama. 
 

1. Eun Dan Oh's Character 

In the webtoon, Eun Dan Oh's character is chic, and she rarely talks and her expressions don't change and she behaves haughtily but in the drama they changed her into a cheerful character that everyone could relate.

2. Ju da and Lee Do Hwa Relationship

 

Lee Do Hwa likes Judah unrequitedly like every second lead in a Korean drama and he likes her in both drama and webtoon but the difference is in webtoon they were childhood friends.

3.  Non linear storytelling in webtoon

 

'July found by chance' is a non linear narrative webtoon that makes audience guess what happens next while drama, on the other hand, is predictable and unlike the webtoon we got to know haru is the main character in earlier episodes. 

4. Webtoon version is more serious

Webtoon version is more serious and I personally liked the changes made in drama as they made it light-hearted instead of making it more serious. It's not walk in the park to adapt a well written web comic and change it without ruining it but the writer did a quite good job with changes and made it more even relatable for korean drama fans. 

 

5. Webtoon is Short than the Drama. 

 

Webtoon version has 21 chapters and most chapters are short but the drama on the other hand increased the length and by doing so we get to know the characters more than in comic version.  

 

You can read webtoon version online and the season 1 is complete but the season 2 is ongoing but don't worry  only ten chapters left to translate.
