Best Asian Movies of 2019


2019 has been a good year for most film industries, Especially Hollywood, Indian and Korean movie industries. So, today we will talk about the best Asian movies that came from several movie industries in Asia. I have compiled this list of the top 10 Asian films from 2019 for you to watch. I will include some Indian movies but don't worry all of them don't have any dances. 

10. Kingdom (Japan) 


Based on the Manga series of the same name.During the warring period in ancient China. Shin is an orphan who dreams of becoming the greatest general One day, he has an encounter with a young man named Eisei, the rightful heir to the Qin throne. Together, they seek to reclaim Eisai's throne and unite the Warring States under a single banner.

9. Gully Boy (Bollywood, India)


It is an official entry for the oscar's best foreign picture. It follows the story of Murad, an underdog, who struggles to convey his views on social issues and life in Suburb Areas Dharavi through rapping. His life changes drastically when he meets a local rapper, Shrikant aka MC Sher.

8. Jersey (Tollywood, India) 


Arjun was a talented cricketer who quits playing cricket due to corruption in official selections where the board selected the least talented individual instead of him. 10 Years later Arjun due to false allegations lost his job and becomes in his late thirties driven by the desire to represent the Indian cricket team to make his son feel proud.

7.Virus (Mollywood, India) 


Based on True Incident. The state of Kerala faces a tremendous outbreak of the life-threatening Nipah virus. However, a group of courageous individuals risks their lives in an attempt to cure the epidemic and save people.

6. Asuran (Kollywood, India)


Asuran is a revenge drama that talks about land grabbing, oppression and caste politics in  Tamilnadu's Kovilpatti and surrounding areas between the ‘60s to ‘80s.  Based on Poomani’s novel, Vekkai (with a few changes of course),  Siva Saami is a coward and drunkard who likes to remain silent even when he is taunted. But his son Murugan is a fearless youngster who gets killed when he fights the oppressive rich baron of a higher caste who grabs the land of Siva swami. Siva Swami remains silent but his teenage son Chidambaram stabs the rich baron and now Siva swami has to save his entire family and has to show his violent side which he tried to hide for a long time.

5. House of Hummingbird (South Korea)


Set in the backdrop of a rapidly developing Seoul in 1994, a lonely 14-year-old Eun-hee moves through life like a hummingbird searching for a taste of sweetness wherever she may find it. Deprived of attention from her family, she roams the neighborhood with her best friend, attempting to find romantic relationships with both girls and boys alike and is sent to the hospital with an unclear diagnosis. When Ji Young, a new teacher, arrives, she becomes the first adult Eun-hee feels really understands her.

Suddenly, Kim Ji-Young begins to talk like her mother, her older sister, and other older people. She seems possessed by other people. What happened to her?

3. Jallikattu (Mollywood, India)
Jallikattu premiered on 6 September 2019 at the 2019 TorontoFilm Festival and received widespread critical acclaim. The film was showcased at the 24th Busan Film Festival under the section 'A Window on Asian Cinema. A buffalo runs amok before the butcher could slaughter it, causing the entire village to slip into a progressive bedlam. Nailing it then becomes a matter of masculine pride, awaking the primal instinct of every man in the village. Jallikattu is a tale that proves that there is a savage underneath every human despite how advanced the civilization has gotten.

2. Parasite


Greed and class discrimination threatens the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the Poor Kim Family. It tells the story of the impoverished four-person Kim family who with devious planning, all get employed by the Rich Park family first as a tutor, an art teacher, a driver, and a housekeeper.

1. Super Deluxe (Kollywood, India)


Super Deluxe gives us four stories and the protagonists in each of the stories are tested in their beliefs in strange ways. For the married couple Vembuand Mukul, the situation in which they get into is a test of their marital relationship. It is a test of her love for her son for Shilpa, a transgender who has come back to her family. For Arputham, who has survived the tsunami and found a new God, and Leela a former porn star who is desperately trying to save her injured son, Soori, it is a test of their belief in God and humanity respectively. And there are also three lads who face a literal test of bravery. Super Deluxe is a masterpiece that requires your full attention to understand the deep philosophies hidden inside this gem.
