How Korean Drama Affected Society

Throughout history, the entertainment industry has affected society no matter what that industry is, be it Hollywood or Bollywood. They successfully influenced their respective audience similarly Korean dramas also influenced the audience. When I first started watching Korean dramas, I got influenced by them and just like me. Every other Korean drama got influenced by the Korean dramas. Sometimes that influence can be positive, sometimes it is negative. So let's talk about how Korean dramas affect society.

They Expand Our Knowledge about Korean History and Culture.

Most people don't enjoy listening to history class, they think history is boring. But nothing is boring if we present it in such a way that evokes people's interest. To evoke people's interest cinema and tv are great tools. An example of this is six flying dragons. 'Six flying dragons' has some great action sequences, popular actors and solid writing. It has accurately portrayed the history of Korea without boring the audience. It has shown how people lived in that era and how politics worked and how some decisions influenced the lives of thousands of people. Those who watched this drama expanded their knowledge about Korean history.

Affecting Society with Product Placement.

Korean drama producers earn their money through product placements and product placements in drama works really well. For example, because of a drama called my love from another star. A lipstick brand sold throughout the world with the highest number of sales, and the funniest part is that the actress never wore that lipstick. The make-up artist made it look like that lipstick by mixing various lipstick colours. Similarly, In doctors, the lip tint worn by park shin hye has brought many sales to the sponsoring cosmetic company.

There were many product placements in Korean dramas and some are very obvious like goblin the most hilarious product placement I've seen was in Goblin. In one scene Kim Shin saves a man from hanging himself, then hands him a subway sandwich and the camera zooms in on its logo for a few seconds. It was like a commercialThe amount of PP in that drama is insane, it's like the drama itself is a huge commercial.

Making Viewer wants to be like the characters in a drama

This is something most people can relate to. I grew up in India where cinema influenced people a lot in my childhood I tried to imitate my favourite actor and wanted to be like him. Similarly, I met some people who want to be the female lead in a Korean drama. Some people want to be like the Cinderella characters like park shin hye in heirs who gets handsome guys lining for her and some women want to be a strong woman like Baek Tae Mi from Search WWW who is a clever, hard-working woman. This is a very important aspect of how dramas affect our society they inspire people to work towards their dreams and teach valuable lessons.

They make you forget about reality

In the 21st century, entertainment became a necessity for most people. Every day people go to their same boring jobs and face several difficulties, but to pay their bills they still work even though they don't like it. To cope with their boredom, they watch dramas as it provides escapism. For example, most popular Korean dramas are lighthearted romantic comedies watching them make you forget about reality, but dramas like Misaeng are not popular since they stay grounded to reality.
