The King: Eternal Monarch episode 2 Recap

The first episode of King Eternal Monarch is not really a strong first episode for a highly expected drama of 2020. The second episode, however, became cringe-worthy thanks to the king's character. I expected him to be more mature. However, the saving grace for this drama is definitely the antagonist.

The second episode begins with Kim Gon getting arrested by Jung Tae eul. He thinks celebrity Yuna as a queen and asks Jung Tae Eul to take him to her, but he gets taken to a police station because of his crazy talk. She questions him and takes his fingerprints and locks him up. Even in the cell, he acts like royalty. Honestly, doesn't he understand that things don't work like that in the parallel world? How will he even fight his ultimate nemesis if he is this naive I thought a ruler of the country should be more smart and mature?

Kim Gon meets Eun sub, who is his bodyguard in the other world, but his personality in the parallel world is very different. In the kingdom of Korea the head court lady, eldest prince Lee Jjong talk about the disappearance of the king.  Meanwhile, Jo young searches in the woods and finds that something odd might have happened. He further questions the prisoners who saw the girl in a rabbit cloak and learns her name is Luna.

In parallel Korea, Jung Tae Eul finds out that there are no fingerprints found in the database. She lets him and he asks her to come to a 5-star hotel. She questions him how he will pay for it. He takes out the diamonds on his costume and sells it in a jewellery shop. In kingdom Korea, the prime minister criticizes the cabinet and finds that King disappeared again. She thinks he has another woman.

Tae Eul goes to meet Kim Tae Gon's The dead guy in the car in ending of the first episode) wife along with her colleague gong shin Jae. She learns that Tae Gon is a gambler who borrowed money from several people. Gong Shin Jae sees that there are many crowbars lying there. Kim Gon calls Eun Sub and asks him about his family and bribes him expensive clothes he bought with the money he got from selling the diamond.

Eun Sub gets many messages that are murder threats from Tae Eul because Kim Gon dropped his horse at her house. She goes to the hotel and leaves a message that if he doesn't come down, she will sell his horse. After coming down she threatens him, that If he causes any more trouble, she will sell his horse. Meanwhile, Forensics reveal that the Tae Gon died of a head injury and the murder weapon is more likely a crowbar. So they look in trash looking for the murder weapon.

Meanwhile, in the temple, our villain Lee Rim along with his loyal servant is painting a temple. The monk asks him why he is doing it for an old temple (It looks like from the 90s he earned quite a reputation in the parallel world) He says that it's like rewriting the history. The monk bows to him and leaves. Meanwhile, a woman has a birthday party along with his disabled son and his friends. They gift him a ball knowing that he can't play with it. The kids take photos of the disabled boy and make fun of him. Honestly, those kids are disgusting.

After humiliating him they leave and the disabled boy goes to the bathroom on his own and his mother cries. The villain shows up and says that her son can never walk, and he says that he can grant her wish in another way by disabling the children who made fun of her child. He makes it happen and those children can never walk again. The villain is literally the only reason I will continue watching this show.

Tae Eul interrogates the suspect who says he has nothing to do with the murder and in CCTV footage they learn that victim followed the suspect but couldn't find the solid evidence of murder yet. Eun seob tells tae eul that Kim Gom is in library learning about the Korean history of the parallel world. He learns that Korea is not ruled by the royal family but by the politicians. He also points out that many things happened in his world, and the parallel world is very different. They go to a fried chicken restaurant he has a flashback about hearing the flute when his father is killed but Head court lady tells him that Manpasikjeok doesn't make any sound. Since many odd things happened on that night head court lady wants him to forget everything that happened. Later he goes to the Korean history museum. Meanwhile, in a flower shop, Kim gon's mother In parallel world remembers that her son died and in flashback we see our villain threatened her that she will be suspected because of two deaths happened not too long ago.

Jo young while searching for Kim gon meets a kid who wears the rabbit hoodie, he tells him it is available online. Seung Ah, the girl in the first episode fangirling about Jo Young is worrying about not getting a job. Then she gets a call about the final interview. Since she was witnessing the boat race Jo young goes to her to look through her camera. She took a lot of photos of him, but he ignores them and asks her to send all the photos to his email. I have to say woo do hwan is killing it with duel roles. Meanwhile, Seung Ah-in parallel world is very rich, and she is a building owner and her name is Myung Na Ri Kim Gom meets her and tells her he is the king of Korea. She says he is an interesting character and asks him to pay for the coffee.

He sits near the Maximus like a lost child Shin Jae calls Tae Eul to come there. Shin Jae talks to Kim Gon, and is pissed about Kim Gon not making any sense. Kim Gon wonders what's Shin Jae's relationship with Tae Eul. After that, we get to see her flashback with her father and Shin Jae. The Episode ends with Kim Gon confessing that he will make Tae Eul his wife.
