Promised Neverland Season 2 Episode 1 Recap & Review

Promised Neverland Season 2 begins where season 1 ended. The episode opens with children running away from a beast, chasing them in a dense forest, Then the scene cuts to the opening.

After the opening, we see children exploring the forest, witnessing the strange wildlife of the outside world. Emma and Ray try to figure out the code left by, William Minerva, using norman's pen, and the book named Adventures of Ugo, William Minerva left the clues in that book, and norman's pen is the key, Using that book they figure out Minerva's location. Norman's pen is a special device, that shows them a map. That map shows them the way to travel to Minerva's location.

They come across a plant that resembles the one, they saw in a book, and it is adventures of Ugo.  Emma realises that the book left by Minerva is a guide to survive in the outside world. Don wonders if Minerva is their friend, Emma says that the outside world is dangerous, but they are not alone. Meanwhile, demons are searching them, There are three demons, two of them looked like dogs, while another looks like a human, and he carried a long sword.

Meanwhile, our group gets found by a wild beast. Don signs Gilda to take the lead to guide slower ones, and they split up to confuse the beast. Meanwhile, ray and Emma stumbles upon a trap. It is called the snake of alvapinera, if someone falls there, they can never get up. Ray decides to bait the beast and asks Emma to take care of the child, tagged along with them. She takes the child with her, and ray baits the beast, but before it falls to the trap, the demons looking for kids kills it, they chase ray a to catch him, And just when they surrounded him, a mysterious man in a horse rescues him, at the same time a girl in a hood approach the other kids, and takes them to a safe house. Ray wakes up in an unknown place, and finds Emma, they both realise that they were saved by demons.

The First episode of promised neverland season 2 didn't disappoint, the world has become bigger and now, it feels more like a fantasy-horror than the previous season, which is understandable, As the previous season was all about escaping the house, which is, by the way, is nothing more than a tiny dot in a vast world. One of the things that I like about this show is that it does a pretty job exploring the relationship between these children, which helps viewers to root for them, this aspect of the show made us emotionally invested in the season 1, and I am hoping season 2 does that as well.

This season just like the previous is riveting, the camerawork used in this episode was fantastic as it helped the audience feel the tension welling up in the deadly situations the characters were in. One thing that I didn't like about this episode was CG, don't get me wrong the CG was good,  but at some times it felt awkward, while the 2d animation was consistently good. The forest environment in this episode was really beautiful, and it reminded me of the anime movie Princess Mononoke. The overall first episode was very enjoyable, and with the introduction of the new world and new characters, the show is off to a good start, satisfying the viewers, who waited since season 1.
